Sujood (Prostration) Seminar

In collaboration with Al-Ameen Islamic Organizaation, VicMuslims Club have conducted a seminar program entitled Prostration or in Arabic, Sujood.

Sujood word meaning prostration to God (Allah) in the direction of the Kaabah at Mecca which is usually done during the daily prayers. While in sujood, a Muslim is to praise and glorify Allah. In the seminar, Shaikh Ahsan even said that the closest state that you can be with Allah is when you are prostrating.

We have invited Shaykh Ahsan Hanif (PhD) as our honour and great speaker for the Seminar. He is the Head of the Qur’an and Hadeeth Sciences Department at AlMaghrib Institute. Sh. Ahsan graduated with honours from the Faculty of Shari'ah from the Islamic University of Madinah. He has also obtained an ijazah in Qur'an memorization as well as studied under a number of well-known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti. Sh. Ahsan has also recently completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham.

Currently, he is doing tour in Australia and New Zealand to give talk about Islam.

There were two sessions of seminar on that day which delivered in different contents. The first session will talk about ‘Be from Those Who Prostate’ and the second session will share about ‘Who was the family of Imran’. No fee is charged for participation in the Seminar.

The first seminar is conducted at Pipitea Campus at 2:30 pm while the next one at Amesbury School, Churton Park.

Seminar 1: Be from those who prostate.

Apart from the seminar, that was also food bazaar being held during the second seminar. Despite of the summer break, it was a success with a large attendance from the Muslim community around Wellington. We hope the knowledge gained from the seminar will benefit the crowd here and hereafter in sha Allah.

Stress Free Snacks

Our ancestors acknowledged the role of fresh fruits or nuts a part of their daily diet. De-stressing through drinks and snacks has become a part of our daily routine. The little and often food has changed our lifestyle which makes us feel more hungry. However, the old eating habits brought natural calm while we sustained more energy for the whole day than depending on the multivitamins as a remedy.  Different researchers have shown the adverse effect of stress can directly lead to unstable eating and can cause hormonal shifts and other disabilities in the body.  The purpose of this little giveaway initiative during the examination period is to make students somewhat realize that their stresses are dependent on their healthy eating habits and the food is always the best remedy which they require at the right time of the day. The old saying like healthy body has a healthy mind acknowledges the role of our body for sustaining pressures. So join us for this free event as the locati

Yassin and Tahlil Recital

Our deepest condolences to one of our club's members, Siti Nur 'Aqeelah for her father's death. This is in line with a sentence in Quran that says, "Every soul shall have a taste of death..." [Al-Imran, 3:185] Therefore, in collaboration with Wellington Malaysian Students' Organisation (WMSO) club, we held a Yasin and Tahlil recital for her father's death, Mr Mohamed. More details about the event is as follow: Venue: Student Islamic Centre (SIC), Kirk Building, Kelburn campus Date: 25 October 2015 Time: 7:45pm Recitation and Refreshment It was a potluck-based event. Right after yasin and tahlil recital, we had small refreshment that were brought by students and to be shared among muslimin and muslimat. Thus, we were able to foster bond among the students and able to get to know more about each other. We hope the student and her family will stay strong. May Allah put the spirit among the believers. Al-fatihah. ...........................
